At 32″ long, 14″ tall, and 14″ wide, the Dakota is a true large-capacity duffel. It offers the space needed for extended trips, road travel, hunting weekends, and anyone who prefers carrying one substantial bag instead of several smaller ones.
The main body is constructed from full-grain Horween Coffee Bean Chromexcel, one of America’s most recognized leathers. Its rich pull-up, exceptional durability, and natural variation ensure that every bag is distinctly its own. As the leather is carried, it will soften, deepen in color, and develop a patina shaped by years of travel.
Wickett & Craig Traditional Harness Leather is used throughout the handles, shoulder strap, attachment points, reinforcements, and exterior accents. Vegetable-tanned in Pennsylvania by one of the world’s most respected tanneries, this premium harness leather provides the structure and strength required for a bag of this size.
The Dakota is fully lined with premium 12 oz. Halley Stevensons hybrid waxed canvas. Every exposed interior seam is carefully bound, creating a clean, fully finished interior while reinforcing the areas most affected by years of packing and use. Interior storage pockets keep smaller belongings organized and within reach.
Heavy-duty YKK zippers secure the bag, while solid-brass hardware is used throughout for lasting strength and reliability. Eight solid-brass feet protect the bottom of the duffel when placed on the ground. Reinforced carrying handles and attachment points support heavy loads, while the adjustable shoulder strap and padded leather shoulder pad provide another comfortable way to carry it.
Every Dakota Overland Duffel is cut, assembled, and finished one at a time in our Indiana workshop. It is not mass-produced, and it is not built from a premade factory pattern. Every component has been selected with purpose, and every detail reflects the standard of American craftsmanship upon which Americana Leather Co. was built.
